I've tasted a few Miami Brewing Company beers at some of the local beer events but I hadn't had their brown ale yet so it was only natural that I tossed a six pack into my cart as I walked down the aisle in my local liquor superstore.
The back of the can says "Our craft beers are inspired by the eclectic flavors and diverse cultures found in Miami and the Florida Keys." Having tried some of the otehr beers from this brewery such as their Big Rod Coconut Ale, and intentionally not having read any details about this one, I expected to find some tropical flavors.
Pours a very dark brown with a creamy tan head that stuck around awhile, leaving behind a little lacing as it fades.
An aroma of sweet roasted malts hits the nose with a little chocolate sneaking in.
The taste is consistent with the smell except that the chocolate is a little stronger along with a faint coffee flavor in the background and no hint of the 5.3% ABV. The carbonation is on the light-medium side which works well with the medium body. While it doesn't have the any of the topical flavors that I anticipated, this one easy to drink and seems perfect for a hot summer day in Miami.
