With it being November and the a/c in the restaurant being set cold enough for my wife to wear a light jacket (South Florida’s version of Winter), I ordered Coppertail Brewing’s porter – Night Swim.
I’ve had this beer several times in the past and it’s the beer that got my wife to drink dark beers. As a matter of fact, I was in their tasting room in Tampa’s Ybor City awhile back with my wife and the women sitting at the bar next to her were explaining to her how they aren’t beer drinkers but tried it at an event and were hooked. They told us they specifically drove up from Sarasota to grab a couple of cases. #CraftBeerConverts
Coppertail describes Night Swim as “dark and luxurious like a midnight dip in the warm gulf waters off St. Pete Beach. Rich and Roasty with a hint of chocolate. Both this porter, and a night swim, are best enjoyed with a friend.” Who am I to argue?
A nice dark brown color and a nice beige head gave off a rich malty, cocoa aroma. It has a light to medium body, perfect for our Florida climate, and a smooth creamy chocolate and coffee flavor with a tad bit of nuttiness. The 6.2% ABV shows itself a bit but isn’t overwhelming at all.
Definetly a kickass porter. Check it out!
