I recently got to try Irish Wheat, a new beer that Guinness is launching this month. It’s the latest product from the team of creative and imaginative brewers that make up their Brewers Project at St. James Gate. This particular brew was developed by one of their German brewers aiming to create the best wheat beer outside of her native home.
Brewed with the same yeast as Guinness Stout and using 100% Irish Wheat plus some stout malts, this is an easy-drinking beer that’s perfect for a warm day and my living in Miami (which means that’s 363 days a year).
Irish Wheat has a light golden color and pours with the typical wheat haziness that you’d expect from a wheat beer. Cloves hit your nose along with some citrus and banana scents. It has a clean, crisp, refreshing taste with notes of zesty citrus, subtle clove and a little banana.
It clocks in at 5.3% ABV and will be available in six packs of 11.2oz bottles starting in March 2017.
Guinness Irish Wheat is worth checking out!
