In honor of National Beer Day (April 7), Hourglass Brewery – a craft brewery and taproom that prides itself on its world class beers and use of all natural, local and exotic ingredients, has crafted the perfect old-school lager to pay tribute to America’s pre-prohibition brewers.
Hourglass Brewery’s small batch release will take place in its “Flimflam” taproom, and will feature its unique “Pre-Prohibition Lager.”

This historic beer style is an approximation of the types of beers being produced before prohibition was enacted, and is made of American six-row barley, flaked corn, brown malt and a blend of period relevant hops and lager yeast. Since so many American breweries closed their doors permanently due to prohibition, Hourglass Brewery wanted to pay them tribute by recreating this style for National Beer Day.
